r.O.b- CircaXXV Review

As you previously read, r.O.b's (Realist One Breahtin')project "CircaXXV" that was due to release March 1, 2013 is here! As I listen through the tracks consecutively I realize that "CircaXXV" is not just a mixtape,it serves as an outlet into the life of r.O.b. "CircaXXV" covers various topics but still has one underlying theme of one having dedication to pursue a dream in spite of previous trials and tribulations. The mixtape starts off with "Up" which displays r.O.b's confidence as an artist and welcomes listeners to "CircaXXV"-- this track certainly caught my attention. This project personalizes r.O.b's experience in the industry as well as in his personal life. Overall, CirvaXXV is a dope mixtape and solidifies r.O.b as an artist. r.O.b- Circa XXV Listening Party

Circa XXV official Cover
On February 21, 2013 I attended a private listening party at Bad Boy Studios for r.O.b’s full length project “Circa XXV” which drops March 1, 2013.  The title “Circa XXV” or ‘approximately twenty-five’ holds great meaning in r.O.b’s life-- “circa” meaning approximately in Latin and “XXV” meaning twenty-five.  I listened to his previous mixtape entitled “Higher Learning..The 90’s Tape” and was very intrigued by the dynamics of his artistry which sparked my interest in “Circa XXV”.  I was very impressed.
As a New York native,  r.O.b (Realist One Breathin') shares his life experiences with us through “Circa XXV”.   This mixtape takes listeners on a journey discussing topics based on success, struggles of everyday life, sex, dedication and inspiration.  His lyrics are very real and relatable. “Circa XXV” has a 90’s flow with a futuristic tone that sets him apart from both prominent and upcoming rappers.  He uses samples from Jodeci’s “Freakin’ You” in a track entitled “She” and gets in touch with his culture speaking bits of Spanish in a track called “Won’t Stop”.  As the DJ played through tracks such as “Old Tapes” and “Tears and Champagne” I can sense that r.O.b is very passionate about his music and is surrounded by a supportive team.   The chemistry of his team clearly resonates through the aura of his music.
r.O.b often refers to himself as futuristic and I agree.  In his track "Old Tapes" he stated "Stay far from timid. Only make moves when your heart is in it." He established his identity as an artist and is confident in his craft.   I really enjoyed attending the “Circa XXV” listening party and look forward to attending more of his shows.  r.O.b has already caught my attention as an upcoming artist and hopefully he will capture yours as well.
